Engineering Manager

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, plan and direct Engineering activities and establish project and task priorities
  • New product development and engineering maintenance/enhancements of existing products
  • Continuous improvements/cost reduction of existing product
  • Ensures that projects are completed within established quality, time frame and budgetary parameters
  • Develop new and improved manufacturing processes by analyzing and improving plant layout, and finding ways to reduce costs

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in either ME or EE. A degree in both is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 – 10 years of Engineering Management

CNC Set Up

Founded in 1969, H-J Enterprises, Inc. is a fully integrated foundry and machine shop in High Ridge, MO. H-J is a manufacturer of electrical connectors for the heavy electrical industry. This individual will work from drawings and stock materials at a computer numerical control (CNC) vertical milling machine, with little supervision.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Evaluate overall process for efficiency and make recommendation for improvement opportunities while maintaining minimal machine downtime.
  • Program and set up CNC lathes and machining centers as well as support equipment, as needed in a production environment.
  • Troubleshoot and correct machining problems. Replace assigned tooling as needed (i.e., drills, boring bars, running tools, etc.).
  • Shall observe and comply with all Company safety rules and regulations, and report incidents to supervisor and/or manager.
  • Performs regular training to machine operators and set-up technicians.
  • Monitors product quality through regular inspection intervals.
  • Must be able to interpret technical drawings and effectively troubleshoot machining issues.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory level of efficiency and quality in work produced.
  • Must demonstrate safety awareness, good workmanship practices, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience with G code programming and ability to optimize existing programs
  • Experience in setting up CNC mills and lathes in a production environment required
  • Experience that includes multi axis vertical machining centers and CNC lathes
  • Experience with Mazatrol programming is a plus.
  • Must be familiar with the mechanical function of CNC machines and equipment, to ensure all safety items are in place before operation is started.
  • Required to provide necessary tools to perform job, - i.e. micrometers, calipers and wrenches.
  • Must maintain a positive, productive relationship with other workers in the department, supervisor, quality inspectors and shipping.
  • The ability to maximize the efficiency of programs to provide greater machine output.
